In the 1970’s Soledad Corona got the idea to manufacturer extension cords in different colors and sell them through the hardware section of major department stores. this was a unique idea:
Extension cords in colors and an independent woman in mexico starting a manufacturing facility.
The venture, that once was just two women and a salesman, grew rapidly and by 1986 was a major supplier of extension cords to some of the biggest stores in latin america, the largest of these being Walmart.
But the 90’s came and the lure of cheap chinese products saw many customers move to lesser quality cheaper products……. What to do?
At this time Raul Tirado, her son, and her main salesmen said there was a market in making guitar cords with the same processes they made high quality extension cords, this idea caught on quickly and expanded to microphone cables, snakes and speaker cables. By the year 2000 the extension cord business was taken over by the music cable lines with almost 300+ dealers throughout latin america. In 2005 Raul took over the main operation of the company as his mother retired.
With a solid manufacturing and supply experience, and with Raul’s leadership, solcor is now expanding into the United States, Canada and Europe.
